Job Overview
Ruku Establishment Milk Factory seeks the addition of a competent and qualified Quality Assurance coordinator to its team in Kiruhura, Uganda.
The Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all dairy products meet internal quality standards, regulatory requirements, and international food safety benchmarks. This role oversees quality control procedures across the production process, supports continuous improvement, and ensures full compliance with UNBS certification standards, including product registration, labeling, and audit readiness.

Job Details
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality Control & Monitoring
- Conduct routine inspections and sampling of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and ensure compliance with HACCP protocols
- Verify sanitation and hygiene practices across production areas
UNBS Certification & Regulatory Compliance
- Coordinate product registration and certification processes with the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS)
- Ensure all dairy products meet UNBS labeling, packaging, and safety standards
- Prepare and maintain documentation required for UNBS audits and inspections
- Liaise with UNBS officials during site visits, product evaluations, and compliance reviews
- Track certification renewals and ensure timely submission of required documentation
Product Testing & Analysis
- Oversee laboratory testing for microbiological, chemical, and physical parameters
- Analyze test results and report deviations to the line Manager and production team
- Support shelf-life studies and product stability assessments
Training & Support
- Train production staff on quality procedures, hygiene standards, and food safety protocols
- Promote a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement
- Assist in developing SOPs and updating quality manuals
Incident Management
- Investigate quality-related complaints and non-conformities
- Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Monitor the effectiveness of CAPA and report outcomes to management
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, Microbiology, or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years in quality assurance within a dairy or food processing environment
- Strong understanding of HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP, and UNBS standards
- Experience with lab testing, CCP monitoring, and quality audits
- Strong written and verbal communication for reporting and training
- Knowledge of QA software, MS Office, and digital recordkeeping tools
