Job Details

Purpose:

The QC Engineer is required to report to the Quality Manager and ensure supplier materials are in line with the Company Standards through Standard Inspection and Record Keeping 
The Engineer is required to resolve all Quality Issues, collaborate with Supply Chain on the quality. They should also be able to support the Engineering Sector on Design changes. 
The engineer should also work with Operational Excellence on Documentation. ( This role is Crucial for maintaining documentation across the chain.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inspection of Incoming Materials

  • The personnel should be able to perform detailed inspections of raw materials from suppliers upon arrival using the appropriate checklists and measurement tools.
  • You should also be able to verify the product's compliance with Technical Specifications, Drawings, and Approved Quality Standards
  • You should be able to isolate and record the non-conforming materials. Then work hand in hand with the Quality Manager and other stakeholders for what next, e.g  Rejection, rework or acceptance with deviation.
  • The Officer should also ensure that the Quality Control Lab Tools are properly calibrated and maintained. They should also be able to suggest improvements in inspection and calibration methods for improved efficiency and accuracy.

2. Documentation and Reporting

  • Ensure to maintain accurate and updated records: Inspection records, checklists, test results, and photographs of non-comformities.
  • The Officer should be able to generate detailed incoming inspection reports for management review.

3. Defect Analysis and Feedback

  • You should be able to collaborate with the suppliers and the quality manager to investigate the root cause of  the defects
  • Then provide detailed feedback to the suppliers through their formal channels to ensure corrective action is taken. 

4. Supplier Quality Evaluation

  • You should recommend relevant and quality metrics for suppliers and contribute to the creation of scorecards and other performance evaluation tools.
  • You should be able to track and document quality-specific supplier metrics for example, defect rates, rejection percentages etc. 
  • Communicate material-related quality issues to suppliers in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders
  • Should be able to support periodic supplier quality reviews through the provision of relevant data and insights from inspections.

5. Continuous Improvement

  • The ideal officer should be able to propose improvements to the incoming inspection process to reduce inspection times and improve defect detection rates.
  • You should also contribute to supplier improvement programs by sharing insights from incoming material trends. 

Who Should Apply?

Education and Experience

  • The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • They should have experience in incoming Quality Control or Quality Assurance in a manufacturing or assembly industry. 

Skills and Competence

  • You should be able to operate inspection tools e.g, Varnier Callipers and have a solid understanding of inspection methods.
  • You have knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Statistical Tools for Analysis.
  • You should have experience with Root Cause Analysis and Reporting
  • You should be familiar with Lean Properties and different continuous improvement strategies.

  • Should be able to pay attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
